The book I created is called ‘Me’. This book celebrates the individual and our need to share our identity. The illustrated pages ask the reader questions. What is your favourite food? What does your family look like? What games do you like to play? The shapes correspond to sections to be filled in on the poster side. Drawing is a way to communicate without words, to help us be understood.

Melanie Whelan is an illustrator, writer, and comic book maker, based in the West of Ireland. Her work explores the connections between humans and the natural world, and aims to strengthen these connections.
